I walked down the old mill line, kinda’ gray and cold that day,
Two brown rails wind down that hill, I kicked the leaves by the way,
Old dead tree laying across the line, missing cross tie from time to time,
Last time a load was pulled from here, I might have been born near a year,
Twin brown rails run down a hill,
End where they meet an old stone dock,
Water on rocks still sounds the same,
Un-told bales rolled down this hill, rolls got stacked and sent on back,
Mill line when you gonna run this rusty track,
Skipped a few rocks by the old tail race, stood your ground through raging flood,
Last whistle blew round’ 68’, lord-almighty damn that day,
Most lost all they knew, one last look around for a lucky few,
Young folks left to find new trades, rest trying to make it day by day,
Crime and drugs run the mill hill now, road’s cracked and full of holes
Trapped on the back line old and gray, bitter taste of American dream,
Windows boarded up and some torn down, knee-high weeds now for a yard,
Mill line what you waiting on, run this rusty track,
Twin brown rails run down a hill,
End where they meet an old stone dock,
Water on rocks still sounds the same,
Un-told bales rolled down this hill, rolls got stacked and sent on back,
Mill line when you gonna run this rusty track,
Come on and run this rusty track
