David Lambert, BMI, ASCAP: News

Charlotte Music Awards Line-up Posted - November 12, 2007

"It's a Carolina thing."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 11, 2007

Country Showcase Scheduled for Nov. 29 at Puckett's

CHARLOTTE-The Charlotte Music Awards will host a Country Showcase at Puckett's Farm Equipment on Thursday, Nov. 29, starting at 8 p.m. Performers for the showcase include David Cody, Greg Griffin, David Lambert and the Smokey Joe Show.

The Charlotte Music Awards showcases all aspects of music in Charlotte and the Carolinas. The initiative supports local music and local artists. Showcases are hosted at different venues across a variety of genres, leading up to an annual Awards Ceremony, the first of which was held in September at Ovens Auditorium.

The featured performers for the Country Showcase are as follows:

David Cody of Swannanoa, N.C., recently released The Dale Earnhardt Tribute Album. Although numerous songs have honored Earnhardt, Cody says there are "none with more thought and love than these 12 songs." A Cow Skeleton Records recording artist, Cody's previous CDs include Pieces of My Heart, Livin' Low and, as Cody & Webb, Until My Train Rolls In.

Greg Griffin, who hails from Huntersville, is a contender in Country Music Television's current Music City Madness. Griffin says that music is inside him and it's got to come out. "Melodies and lyrics pop in my head and I need to write them down and sing them out loud so they won't stay stuck there," Griffin says. "Most of my songs are about people finding a place in this world."

Spartanburg-based David Lambert is not your typical musician. A retired Army colonel, his musical commitment shifted into high gear after seeing singer-songwriter Chris Knight perform in Charlotte. The devotion paid off when Lambert was named the best Male Horizon Country/Pop Vocalist 2007 at the Entertainment Indie-Association (EIA) Awards Ceremony. His debut CD is titled By the Carolina Moon.

. The Smokey Joe Show offers homegrown original music. The band consists of "Smokey Joe" Peoples (songwriter, rhythm guitar and vocals), Chelsea Goodman (vocals and egg shaker), Tom Rogers (harmonicas), Darryl Goodman (electric bass), Lonny Finley (lead guitars, mandolin and vocals) and George Brasington (drums). The band has just released a new CD, Little Buildings.

Puckett's Farm Equipment is located at 2740 W. Sugar Creek Rd. in the heart of historic Derita. The venue has long been home to the finest roots music, country, alt-country and Americana acts on the regional scene.

Supporters of the Charlotte Music Awards include Amps 11, Carolina Promoter, the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, Consolidated Press, Creative Loafing, Digital Bliss, Extra Medium, Extravaganza Events, Flavor Fruit Entertainment, 4WARD Promotions, High Timberline Media, John St. Graphics, Leigh Rose Marketing, Media Evolved, Pyramid Printing, Shoeshine Boy Design, Starbucks Coffee, Succession Records, The Wadsworth House, WGWG and WSGE.
